These goods cannot be legally imported into Nigeria.

  1. Live or dead birds including frozen poultry.
  2. Pork and beef meats.
  3. Birds’ eggs, excluding hatching eggs.
  4. Refined vegetable oils and fats (excl. refined linseed, castor & olive oils; crude vegetable oil is allowed).
  5. Cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose in retail packs.
  6. Cocoa butter, powder and cakes.
  7. Spaghetti / noodles.
  8. Fruit juice in retail packs.
  9. Waters (mineral or aerated) with added sugar or flavouring / non-alcoholic beverages (excl. certain energy/health drinks).
  10. Bagged cement.
  11. Medicaments in certain categories (e.g., paracetamol, cotrimoxazole, metronidazole, chloroquine, multivitamins, aspirin, IV fluids, etc.) with specific exceptions.
  12. Waste pharmaceuticals. Seek expert advice for guidance.
  13. Soaps and detergents sold in retail packs.
  14. Mosquito repellent coils.
  15. Re-threaded and used pneumatic tyres (with some exceptions).Seek expert advice for guidance.
  16. Corrugated paper and paper board products (various items).
  17. Carpets and rugs of all kinds.
  18. Footwear, bags, suitcases (subject to limited exceptions). Seek expert advice for guidance.
  19. Hollow glass bottles over certain sizes.
  20. Used compressors, air conditioners, fridges, and freezers.
  21. Used motor vehicles older than 12 years from the year of manufacture.
  22. Ballpoint pens and parts (excluding tips).
